Veteran suicide. Twenty-two per day. What can be done?
Awareness leads to prevention.
The Tampa Warriors are excited to announce our second annual Hockey Heals 22 charity fundraising event. Hockey Heals is 22-hours of consecutive hockey games played to raise awareness for the 22 veteran suicides that occur every day. The teams for this amazing event will consist of Police, Fire/Rescue, First Responders, and local teams. Some local celebrities will also be there in support of Awareness and Prevention.
The Tampa Warriors organization provides healthy and productive opportunities for our veterans. Within the Tampa Warriors, our veterans find the camaraderie and support system of like-minded teammates during practices and games. Our community outreach last year included over 1,000 volunteer hours providing opportunities for our disabled veterans to continue to serve, by cleaning up our beaches, donating food to front line workers during the pandemic, blood drives, and assisting the Tampa Bay Lightning with their learn to skate program.
Please consider coming out to support us this year. We will have hockey, games, raffles, food, and a whole lot of fun while also doing a lot of good for our Veteran community. You can also donate to our cause here: https://app.simplyk.io/donation-form/ab634377-9425-4251-b3ea-e8348bf24534
The event will take place at AdventHealth Center Ice located at 3173 Cypress Ridge Blvd., Wesley Chapel, FL 3354. Opening ceremonies will start at 6:30pm on June 10, 2022, with the event concluding at 5:00pm on June 11, 2022.
The Tampa Warriors are a 501c Nonprofit organization consisting of more than 100 disabled veterans. Our mission: to provide both a recreational and competitive environment/team that is therapeutic and educational for our members so that we serve each other and our communities.
