What are some of your hockey accomplishments this season? Overall?

I got on the ice for the first time! I look forward to continuing to learn to skate and play with the Warriors.

What has drawn you to the Warrior program?

I have been a hockey fan for many years. When I left the military, I felt lost and left out. All my friends were still in and I felt like I didn’t relate to the other spouses or civilians. The idea of meeting other veterans and learning to play hockey with them sounded fantastic- and welcoming. I also love that the team is always there for each other and do many community service events.

How has it helped you transition between military and civilian life?

I don’t feel left out anymore. I have a place I can talk to others who understand the lifestyle, lingo, and humor.

What is the most fulfilling part of being a Tampa Warrior?

I enjoy giving my time to helping with events for our community. My goals for 2020 is to get back on the ice but I still will volunteer my time to help others.

What advice do you have for other veterans? Or veterans interested in the program?

Don’t wait. Don’t doubt yourself. I let my self doubt talk myself out of practice and games. Everyone is so welcoming and encouraging. Since day one, I was welcomed with open arms. Come join us on the ice and skate with us- whether you’re a beginner or hockey veteran.
